Roulette Rules

Roulette Rules Roulette is a casino game that has been in gaming for several decades and has its genesis in ancient Roman history where Roman soldiers would turn a cart on its side and bet on where one of the spun wheels would stop. Later in France the game was perfected to what it is today. In 1796 the wheel as we know it today was introduced. The European roulette wheel is 36 numbers plus zero and the American wheel is 36 numbers plus zero and double zero. The extra number gives the house a little more edge in the odds. The game is also known as the devils game as the 36 numbers add up to 666.

The green felt layout that accompanies the wheel is laid out for betting purposes with the 37 or 38 numbers plus red/black, odd/even and a bet on one of three columns of numbers. The final wager areas are groups of the first eighteen and the 2nd eighteen and then individual segments of 12 numbers each.

Roulette Rules In the early days of American roulette the house only paid 27 for one on single number bets. Today by state laws the house has to pay 34 or 35 to one on single number bets that win. The total number of possible bets that can be made on a roulette table come to 22 individual bets. These bets range from single number bets that pay 35 to one or red or black that pay even money.

The game procedures are fairly simple to follow. A player buys a stack of chips that are in an individual color and value for that player's purchase. The Dealer calls for bets to be made and then closes the betting session. At this point the dealer states no more bets and spins the wheel and puts the ball in motion is the opposite direction. As the wheel slows down, the white ball falls into a number slot and finally comes the rest in one of the numbers on the wheel. When the ball comes to rest, the dealer or croupier removes the losing bets and then pays off the winning bets that the number is associated with. This can actually set off a number of winning bets that several players may have made. Late bets are not paid and are given back to the player that made the bet. What the player wins depends on the winning number and the type of bet the player made.

The lines on a roulette table are critical as they are used to detail certain bets. The spaces on the side of the layout are also critical to detail the bets associated with those space. Using any Internet search engine or asking for one when visiting a live casino can easily obtain a betting chart.

Players that like the game should learn the different bets and the combinations of bets that have the best odds for the player in combination. The payoffs are critical when making more than one bet on a roulette table. Examples of common roulette bets can be outlined as follows. Even money bets are red/black, odd/even or fist 18 numbers or second 18 numbers. The column bets and the 12 number segments both pay two to one. Single number bets pay a whopping 35 to one. A two adjoining numbers bet pays17 to one. A single row of numbers pays 11 to one.
