So you're playing Texas Hold'em and you just got dealt your two hole cards. You look at the corners like they do on TV and you see two 4s. What are your odds? How do you know if they are good? Or perhaps more importantly, how do you know if they are bad?

When playing Texas Hold'em your odds and your ability to know what they are varies by a few factors. The biggest one of these, believe it or not, is how many players there are. The more players, the more likely it is that someone will have a good hand.

If there are 6 players, you might want to think about folding if you can't see the flop for little money. However, if there are only two other players, that pair of fours is probably a pretty good hand.

Something to watch out for though: if a pair comes up in the community cards and someone starts betting aggressively, they probably have another of that card. Proceed with caution!
