The target of any blackjack gamer is to end with a higher hand total than the dealer not going over 21. In all the game of Blackjack variations, the values of the cards are equal: all the numbered from 2-10 cards are valued as indicated, all the picture cards (Jacks, Queens, Kings) are counted of 10 points, and an Ace can have the value as either 1 or 11 depending what makes the player hand higher. Playing the same way against a tight player as you do a loose one. Take the AJ hand again. Against a tight player's preflop raise in the front, your hand is probably not good. Against a player who raises too many hand, it is a good hand. Other than that, it's pretty simple. You never know what cards are truly going to be a good hand before the flop, and even sometimes after it, but there are a few general guidelines.  If you have two low cards that are off-suit (they are of different suits) then you probably shouldn't play them unless you intend to bluff.
